`

`U.S. Appln. No. 11/673,836
`Amendment
`Responsive to Office Action dated October 20, 2010
`
`HPTA-5575
`
`Claims 1, 10 and 15 have been amendedforclarification. In particular, claim | has been
`
`amendedto set forth that the first memory is connected to the display area through a switch and
`
`that the first image data on at least one of the plural data lines is selectable from the first image
`
`data stored in the first memory through the switch. Claim 10 has been similarly amendedto set
`
`forth that the first part of the plurality of data lines is supplied the first image data stored in the
`
`first memory through the switch. Claim 15 sets forth that the first memory is connectedto the
`
`display area through first switches and that the first image data on at least one of the plurality of
`
`data lines is selectable from the first image data stored in the first memory throughthefirst
`
`switches. As amended, the independent claims and the claims dependentthereon are patentable
`
`over Ishiyama, Shiba, Kitagawa and Akimoto, whether considered individually or in
`
`combination with one another.
`
`Applicants’ remarks with respect to the differences between the claimed invention and
`
`Ishiyamaare of record, for example in the Amendmentfiled September 21, 2010. Thatis,
`
`Ishiyamafails to disclose or suggest the first memory provided outside of the display area
`
`constituted by a thin film transistor and storing first image data in combination with a driver
`
`outputting second image data different from the first image data.
`
`In the rejection of claims 15, 16 and 18, Akimotois relied upon for disclosing an LCD
`
`display driver having a selector formedbya plurality of first switches and a plurality of second
`
`switches 67, 68 which correspondto the low power consumption DA converter 6 and high-
`
`precision DA converter 8 shownin Figs. | and 7 of the reference. However, Akimoto does not
`
`disclose the claimed combination of a first memorystoring first image data connected to a
`
`display area through a switch wherein the first image data on at least one of plural datalines is
`

`
`selectable from first image data stored in a first memory through the switch, as set forth in claim
`
`1. Akimoto merely discloses a frame memory SRAM 7 connected to the display unit 50 through
`
`low power-consumption DA converter6.
`
`Applicants also respectfully assert that neither Shiba nor Kitagawa overcomethe
`
`deficiencies in Ishiyama or the Ishiyama and Akimoto combination. Therefore, pending claims
`
`1-7 and 9-18 are patentable over the references of record and therefore the rejections under 35
`
`U.S.C. §103(a) should be withdrawn.
`
`Conclusion
`
`In view of the foregoing, Applicant respectfully requests that a timely Notice of
`
`Allowance be issuedin this case.
`
`Respectfully submitted,
