`
`provisions.
`
`DETAILED ACTION
`
`Priority
`
`1.
`
`Receipt is acknowledged of papers submitted under 35 U.S.C. 119(a)-(d), which
`
`papers have been placed of record in the file.
`
`Information Disclosure Statement
`
`2.
`
`The information disclosure statement (IDS) submitted on 12/22/2014 has been
`
`considered by Examiner and made of record in the application file.
`
`Claim Rejections - 35 USC § 103
`
`3.
`
`The following is a quotation of 35 U.S.C. 103(a) which forms the basis for all
`
`obviousness rejections set forth in this Office action:
`
`(a) A patent may not be obtained though the invention is not identically disclosed or described as set
`forth in section 102 of this title, if the differences between the subject matter sought to be patented and
`the prior art are such that the subject matter as a whole would have been obvious at the time the
`invention was made to a person having ordinary skill in the art to which said subject matter pertains.
`Patentability shall not be negatived by the manner in which the invention was made.
`
`4.
`
`Claims 1-3 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103(a) as being unpatentable over Chou
`
`(US PUB. 2007/0206116) in view of Voutilainen et al. (U.S PAT. 9,048,959 hereinafter,
`
`“Voutilainen”).

`
`Art Unit: 2647
`
`Consider claim 1, Chou teaches a mobile terminal (fig. 1, 100) comprising: a
`
`housing (fig. 1, 1); a camera including a communicating hole, through which the inside
`
`and the outside of the housing communicate, and a camera module capable of imaging
`
`though the communicating hole (figs. 1-3, page 1 [0023] and page 2 [0028]).
`
`Chou does not explicitly show that a non-contact charging module contained in
`
`the housing, the non-contact charging module including: a charging coil formed of a
`
`wound conducting wire; an NFC coil arranged so as to surround the charging coil; a first
`
`magnetic sheet supporting the charging coil; and a second magnetic sheet placed on
`
`the first magnetic sheet and supporting the NFC coil; wherein the non-contact charging
`
`module does not overlap with the camera in a plane normal to a thickness direction of
`
`the housing, and the non-contact charging module is arranged within a dimension of the
`
`camera along the thickness direction of the housing.
`
`In the same field of endeavor, Voutilainen teaches a non-contact charging
`
`module contained in the housing, the non-contact charging module including: a charging
`
`coil formed of a wound conducting wire (col. 19 lines 27-45); an NFC coil arranged so
`
`as to surround the charging coil (col. 18 lines 10-26); a first magnetic sheet supporting
`
`the charging coil (col. 15 lines 31 -47); and a second magnetic sheet placed on the first
`
`magnetic sheet and supporting the NFC coil (col. 15 lines 31 -47); wherein the non-
`
`contact charging module does not overlap with the camera in a plane normal to a
`
`thickness direction of the housing, and the non-contact charging module is arranged
`
`within a dimension of the camera along the thickness direction of the housing (col. 18
`
`line 40 through col. 19 line 8).

`
`Therefore, it would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art at the
`
`time the invention was made to use, a non-contact charging module contained in the
`

`
`conducting wire; an NFC coil arranged so as to surround the charging coil; a first
`
`magnetic sheet supporting the charging coil; and a second magnetic sheet placed on
`
`the first magnetic sheet and supporting the NFC coil; wherein the non-contact charging
`
`module does not overlap with the camera in a plane normal to a thickness direction of
`
`the housing, and the non-contact charging module is arranged within a dimension of the
`
`camera along the thickness direction of the housing, as taught by Voutilainen, in order
`
`to provide a high data throughput optical communication link.
`
`Consider claim 2, Chou teaches mobile terminal (fig. 1, 100) comprising: a
`
`housing (fig. 1, 1).
`
`Chou does not explicitly show that a battery pack contained in the housing; and a
`
`non-contact charging module contained in the housing, the non-contact charging
`
`module including: a charging coil formed of a wound conducting wire; an NFC coil
`
`arranged so as to surround the charging coil; a first magnetic sheet supporting the
`
`charging coil; and a second magnetic sheet placed on the first magnetic sheet and
`
`supporting the NFC coil; wherein the non-contact charging module does not overlap
`
`with the battery pack in a plane normal to a thickness direction of the housing, and the
`
`non-contact charging module is arranged within a dimension of the battery pack along
`
`the thickness direction of the housing.

`

`

`Application/Control Number: 14/410,554

`
`Art Unit: 2647
`
`In the same field of endeavor, Voutilainen teaches a battery pack contained in
`
`the housing (col. 16 lines 16-34); and a non-contact charging module contained in the
`
`housing, the non-contact charging module including: a charging coil formed of a wound
`
`conducting wire (col. 19 lines 27-45); an NFC coil arranged so as to surround the
`
`charging coil (col. 18 lines 10-26); a first magnetic sheet supporting the charging coil
`
`(col. 15 lines 31 -47); and a second magnetic sheet placed on the first magnetic sheet
`
`and supporting the NFC coil (col. 15 lines 31 -47); wherein the non-contact charging
`
`module does not overlap with the battery pack in a plane normal to a thickness direction
`
`of the housing, and the non-contact charging module is arranged within a dimension of
`
`the battery pack along the thickness direction of the housing (col. 18 line 40 through col.
`
`19 line 8).
`
`Therefore, it would have been obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art at the
`

`
`module is arranged within a dimension of the battery pack along the thickness direction
`
