`
`CLAIM AMENDMENTS
`
`This listing of claims will replace all prior versions, and listings, of claims in the
`
`application:
`
`1. (Currently Amended) A rotary impact tool comprising:
`
`a rotary driving mechanism including a motor feHetatiag that rotates a
`
`driving shaft;
`
`a hammer engaged with the driving shaft;
`
`an output shaft to which a driving force is applied by impact blow of the
`
`hammer;
`
`a main switch operated by a user fer—controlling that controls a fastening
`
`operation;
`
`a torque setting switch used by a user fepsetting that sets a fastening
`
`torque;
`
`a torque calculator fer—calculating that calculates a fastening torque; and
`
`a controller for—controlling that controls turning on and off of the motor
`
`based on switching on and off of the main switch, an output of the torque
`
`calculator and the fastening torque set in the torque setting switch, and having a
`
`normal fastening mode and a tight fastening mode; wherein
`
`a rotation angle sensor that senses a rotation angle of the output shaft to
`
`which rotation force due to impact blow of the hammer is applied or a rotation
`
`angle of a shaft of the motor; and
`
`
`
`P27872.A03
`
`a tight fastening mode setting switch used—fer—setting that sets the tight
`
`fastening mode in which a fastening member
`
`is fastened further,
`
`to stop
`
`fastening of the fastening member in normal fastening torgue; wherein is—further
`
`when the tight fastening mode setting switch is switched on, the controller
`
`continuOusly drives the rotary driving mechanism so as to perform a tight
`
`fastening operation continuously;
`
`the torgue calculator calculates the fastening torgue based on an output of
`
`the rotation angle sensor; and
`
`the controller stops driving of the motor when the rotation angle obtained
`
`from an output of the rotation angle sensor becomes equal to or larger than a
`
`predetermined reference value in the tight fastening mode.
`
`2. Canceled
`
`3. (Currently Amended) The rotary impact tool in accordance with claim L
`
`2 further comprising:
`
`a tight fastening angle setting switch used—fer—sefiing—er—varying that sets
`
`or varies the predetermined reference value set in the tight fastening mode.
`
`4. Canceled
`
`
`
`P27872.AO3
`
`5. (Currently Amended) The rotary impact tool in accordance with claim 1,
`
`wherein
`
`the controller increases a level of phase of the fastening torque set in the
`
`torque setting switch by one, when a number of tight fastening operations
`
`reaches to a predetermined number of times.
`
`6. Canceled
`
`7. (Currently Amended) The rotary impact tool in accordance with claim 3,
`
`wherein
`
`the controller increases a level of phase of the fastening torque set in the
`
`torque setting switch by one, when a number of tight fastening operations
`
`reaches to a predetermined number of times.
`
`8. Canceled
`
`9. (New) A rotary impact tool comprising:
`
`a rotary driving mechanism including a motor that rotates a driving shaft;
`
`a hammer engaged with the driving shaft;
`
`I
`
`an output shaft to which a driving force is applied by impact blow of the
`
`hammer;
`
`a main switch operated by a user that controls a fastening operation;
`
`a torque setting switch used by a user that sets a fastening torque;
`
`
`
`P27872.A03
`
`a torque calculator that calculates a fastening torque;
`
`a controller that controls turning on and off of the motor based on
`
`switching on and off of the main switch, an output of the torque calculator and the
`
`fastening torque set in the torque setting switch," and having a normal fastening
`
`mode and a tight fastening mode; and
`
`a tight fastening mode setting switch that sets the tight fastening mode
`
`where a fastening member is fastened further, to stop fastening of the fastening
`
`member in normal fastening torque; and
`
`when the tight fastening mode setting switch is switched on, the controller
`
`continuously drives the rotary driving mechanism so as to perform a tight
`
`fastening operation continuously; and
`
`when a quantity of impact blows of the hammer corresponding to the
`
`fastening torque set in the torque setting switch, the controller stops driving of the
`
`motor in thetight fastening mode.
`
`10. (New) The rotary impact tool in accordance with claim 9, wherein
`
`the controller increases a level of phase of the fastening torque set in the
`
`torque setting switch by one, when a number of tight fastening operations
`
`reaches a predetermined number of times.
