`
`With respect to claim 4/1, Ishikawa discloses a power supply apparatus (100 Fig. 1 ‘j[
`
`61); wherein the first target voltage within a range of predetermined voltage (Vb Fig. 2
`
`(reproduced above) (II 100 — (II 101).
`
`6.
`
`With respect to claim 5/1, Ishikawa discloses a power supply apparatus (100 Fig. 1
`
`(reproduced below) ‘j[ 61); controller controls (‘j[ 58 lines 1 — 3), when the receiving the
`
`regeneration signal is ended (‘j[ 112 lines 8 — 14), DC/DC converter so that the voltage of the first
`
`terminal becomes a second target voltage in order to discharge the second storage battery (‘j[ 57
`
`lines 5 — 8), where a value of the second target voltage is defined as a voltage value that is higher
`
`by a second fixed value than a voltage value which the first terminal has at a moment that the

`
`receiving the regeneration signal ends (‘J[ 57 lines 5 — 8 examiner’s note: the voltage value is
`
`boosted by the converter, therefore prior arts meets claimed subject matter).
`
`7.
`
`With respect to claim 6/5, Ishikawa discloses a power supply apparatus (100 Fig. 1 ‘j[
`
`61); wherein the regenerative signal is one of vehicle speed signal (‘j[ 51 lines 3 — 9 examiner’s
`
`note: during operation of the vehicle), brake signal (‘J[ 53 examiner’s note: regenerative
`
`braking), fuel injection signal (‘j[ 47 examiner’s note: when engine is burning fuel).
`
`8.
`
`With respect to claim 8/5, Ishikawa discloses a power supply apparatus (100 Fig. 1 ‘j[
`
`61); wherein the second target voltage is within a range of predetermined voltage (‘j[ 56 lines 1 —
`
`6 examiner’s note: subsidiary battery of the prior art supplies to various component of the
`
`vehicle via converter. It is inherent that various electronic component to have power
`
`consumption requirement to operated accordingly, therefore converter must supply
`
`sufficient power required by electronic component of the vehicle, which should be Within
`
`range or predetermined voltage required by electronic component of the battery).
`
`9.
`
`With respect to claim 9/5, Ishikawa discloses a power supply apparatus (100 Fig. 1 ‘j[
`
`61); wherein the first storage battery receives a power from the second storage battery during a
`
`discharge period of the second storage battery (Fig. 2 (reproduced above) (II 57 lines 5 — 8
`
`examiner’s note: according to paragraph; voltage from converter, which is from subsidiary
`
`battery is supplied to inverter 13 or 15. As can be seen from figure. 2 above the boosted
`

`
`Art Unit: 2859
`
`how voltage flows from secondary battery 5 to the load via main battery 3 is near identical
`
`to instant applications drawing).
`
`10.
`
`Claim 3 is rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103(a) as being unpatentable over Ishikawa et al.
`
`(US. PGPub No. 2008/0067973 Examiner’s note Ishikawa’s reference applied as 102(a)
`
`rejection, therefore 103(c) exception is not available) as applied to claims above and further in
`
`view of Taniguchi (U.S. P.G. Pub No. 2008/0067973).
`
`11. With respect to claim 3/1, Ishikawa discloses a power supply apparatus for vehicles (100
`
`Fig. 2 ‘j[ 61); wherein charging current value is smaller than fixed current value (‘j[ 57 lines 1 — 5
`
`examiner’s note: this is a function of step down (or buck) converter, by the law of energy
`
`conservation (P = VI) as the voltage decreases (or bucked) from input (the main battery) of
`
`the converter to output (the subsidiary battery); the current increases from input to the
`
`output, therefore the prior art meets the claimed subject matter).
`
`Ishikawa does not teach nor disclose DC converter equipped with current detector
`
`connected to controller, which monitors input and output current of the battery.
`
`In the same field of endeavor, Taniguchi teaches DC/DC converter (3 Fig. 2
`
`(reproduced below) ‘j[ 21 lines 13 — 16) equipped with current detector (8 Fig. 1 (reproduced
`

`
`5), which monitors input and output current of the battery (2 Fig. 1 (reproduced below) (II 21
`
`lines 3 — 6).
`
`Therefore, it would have been obvious to a person of ordinary skill in the art at the time
`
`of invention was made to modify Ishikawa’s power supply apparatus (100 Fig. 2 ‘j[ 61) to further

`
`further include Kachi’s DC/DC converter (5 Fig. 2 col. 4 lines 24 — 27) in advantageous benefit
`
`of providing a method of supplying power using a main DC power supply for generating a

`
`Response to Arguments
`
`Applicant's arguments filed 20th of September, 2012 have been fully considered but they
`
`are not persuasive.
`
`Applicant argues that reference by Ishikawa does not disclose “. . .controlling a voltage at
`
`a first terminal of a DC/DC converter in order to lower the voltage by a fixed value

`
`...” Ishikawa, however, discloses DC/DC converter 20, which lowers the charging voltage to
`
`the second storage battery (subsidiary battery) and the voltage, is being controlled by converter
`
`control circuit 30. According to the paragraph 101 of the Ishikawa reference; Ishikawa states that
`
`"...it is possible to control the output voltage of DC/DC converter 20 to be desired charging
`
`voltage as the target of subsidiary battery...” Also Ishikawa states in various location of the prior
`
`art that he's invention controls the photo transistors Ql — Q4 in the converter to manipulate the
`
`output voltage. Therefore the prior art meets the claimed subject matter.
`
`Conclusion
`
`Applicant's amendment necessitated the new ground(s) of rejection presented in this
`
`Office action. Accordingly, THIS ACTION IS MADE FINAL. See MPEP § 706.07(a).

`Applicant is reminded of the extension of time policy as set forth in 37 CFR l.l36(a).
`
`A shortened statutory period for reply to this final action is set to expire THREE
`
`MONTHS from the mailing date of this action. In the event a first reply is filed within TWO
`
`MONTHS of the mailing date of this final action and the advisory action is not mailed until after
`
`the end of the THREE—MONTH shortened statutory period, then the shortened statutory period
`
`will expire on the date the advisory action is mailed, and any extension fee pursuant to 37
`
`CFR l.l36(a) will be calculated from the mailing date of the advisory action. In no event,
`
`however, will the statutory period for reply expire later than SIX MONTHS from the date of this
