`
`DETAILED ACTION
`
`Notice ofPre-AIA 0r AIA Status
`
`1.
`
`The present application, filed on or after March 16, 2013, is being examined under the
`
`first inventor to file provisions of the AIA.
`
`Claim Rejections - 35 US C § 102
`
`2.
`
`The following is a quotation of the appropriate paragraphs of 35 USC. 102 that form the
`
`basis for the rejections under this section made in this Office action:
`
`A person shall be entitled to a patent unless ,
`
`(a)(2) the claimed invention was described in a patent issued under section 151, or in an application for
`patent published or deemed published under section 122(b), in which the patent or application, as the
`case may be, names another inventor and was effectively filed before the effective filing date of the
`claimed invention.
`
`3.
`
`Claims 1—4 are rejected under 35 USC. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated by Son et al
`
`(2016/0255660).
`
`Regarding claims 1 and 4, Son discloses a method and a wireless communication
`
`apparatus comprising: a frame configuration circuit that generates a transmission frame including
`
`directional multi—gigabit (DMG) beacons (see directional multi—gigabit (DMG) Areas in figure 5
`
`and paragraphs 0068)), wherein sector identifier fields in sector sweep fields included in the
`
`respective DMG beacons indicate one or more transmit sectors used for directional transmissions
`
`of the respective DMG beacons (see a sector ID in paragraphs 0013, 0047), and a field different
`
`from the sector identifier field included in each of the DMG beacons indicates whether or not
`
`there is quasi—omni transmission (see figure 12 and The sector ID indicates a predetermined
`
`identifier of a beam sector that transmits the corresponding sector sweep signal. The DMG
`
`antenna ID indicates a predetermined identifier of an antenna that transmits the corresponding
`

`
`sector sweep signal, and may be an identifier indicative of a quasi—omni section of the
`
`corresponding sector sweep signal in paragraphs 0132); and a transmission wireless circuit (see
`
`the mobile communication module 130 transmits and receives a wireless signal in paragraphs
`
`0044) that performs, by using the transmit sector indicated by the sector identifier field,
`
`directional transmission on a first DMG beacon that is included in the DMG beacons and in
`
`which the field different from the sector identifier field indicates non—quasi—omni transmission
`
`(see the STA—1 can sequentially transmit a beamforming signal to multiple sectors set in an
`
`omnidirectional or specific directional range in paragraphs 0060 and 0132) and that performs
`
`quasi—omni transmission on a second DMG beacon that is included in the DMG beacons and in
`
`which the field different from the sector identifier field indicates quasi—omni transmission, in a
`
`beacon transmission interval (see paragraphs 0060 and 0068).
`
`Regarding claim 2, Son discloses a reception wireless circuit that receives, in a data
`
`transfer interval (DTI), a probe response transmitted via quasi—omni transmission and a sequence
`
`signal used for mutual antenna training from a communication partner to which the DMG
`
`beacons were transmitted; and a control circuit that selects, from the one or more transmit
`
`sectors, a transmit sector corresponding to a receive sector of the communication partner, the
`
`receive sector being indicated by the sequence signal (see figure 7 and paragraphs 0067 and
`
`0125).
`
`Regarding claim 3, Son discloses wherein the frame configuration circuit generates an
`
`acknowledge (ACK) signal corresponding to the probe response; and the transmission wireless
`
`circuit performs directional transmission on the ACK signal by using the selected transmit sector
`
`(see the probe response and feedback information in paragraphs 0063, 0069, and 0125).
