Application No. 16/637,714
`Reply to Office Action Dated April 15, 2021
`
`REMARKS
`
`After entry of the foregoing amendment, claims 15—28 will be pending in the present
`
`application. Claims 15-17, 27 and 28 are amended. Claims 29-34 are cancelled in the present
`
`response. Applicant submits that no new matter has been introduced in the present application
`
`by the foregoing amendment. Support for the foregoing amendment maybe foundin at least
`
`paragraphs [0087] and [0088] of the filed application.
`
`Claim Rejections —35 U.S.C.
`
`§$102 and 103:
`
`Claims 15-17, 22 and 27-29 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 102(a)(2) as being anticipated
`
`by U.S. Patent Application No. 2019/0246356 to Kim et al. (hereinafter “Kim”). Claims 18—20
`
`and 30 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Kim in view of U.S. Patent
`
`Application No. 2018/0049131 to Huanget al. (hereinafter “Huang °131”). Claims 21, 23 and
`
`31-34 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Kim in view of U.S. Patent
`
`Application No. 2019/0045445 to Huanget al. (hereinafter “Huang ’445”). Claims 24—26 are
`
`rejected under 35 U.S.C. 103 as being unpatentable over Kim in view of U.S. Patent Application
`
`No. 2019/0028967 to Ahnetal. (hereinafter “Ahn”).
`
`Claim 15, as amended,recites:
`
`A station comprising:
`circuitry which,
`in operation, negotiates Wake-Up Radio (WUR)
`parameters with an access point (AP), and switches from WUR mode suspend to
`WUR modebyinitiating and completing a WUR modesetup frame exchange; and
`a transmitter which, in operation, transmits a WUR modesetup frameto the
`AP in the WUR mode setup frame exchange,
`wherein the circuitry maintains WUR parameters negotiated with the AP
`after entering the WUR mode suspendfrom the WUR mode.
`(Emphasis added)
`
`Applicant submits that Kim does notdisclose or suggest at least the above-italicized
`
`subject matter of amendedclaim 15.
`
`Kim discloses:
`
`The AP transmits a WUR negotiation response frame to the STA in
`response to the WUR negotiation request frame (1925). The WUR negotiation
`response frame may include various WUR mode parameters. The WURnegotiation
`
`

`

`Application No. 16/637,714
`Reply to Office Action Dated April 15, 2021
`
`response frame may include the WUR ID (or WUR receiver ID), but not limited
`thereto, for example, may further include at least one of WUR band/channel
`information for WUR mode operation and WUR duty cycle information (e.g.,
`Period, On-duration length, Start time of On-duration).
`The STA mayoperate in the WUR mode based on the parameters obtained
`through the WUR negotiation procedure. For example, the STA may regard the
`WUR negotiation response frame as a confirmation of the AP for entering the WUR
`mode, and enter the WUR mode. For another example, after the STA receives the
`WUR negotiation response frame, the STA may enter the WUR mode by requesting
`a confirmation to the WUR modeentering or performing a separate procedure for
`notifying the WUR modeentering with the AP.
`(§[0164] and [0165])
`
`However, Kim does notdisclose or suggest that a station or circuitry thereof “maintains
`
`WUR parameters negotiated with the AP after entering the WUR modesuspend from the WUR
`
`mode”as recited in amended claim 15. Per Kim, the STA may operate in the WUR mode based
`
`on the parameters obtained through the WUR negotiation procedure. However, Kim does not
`
`disclose that the station operates using the WUR parameters (negotiated with the AP) after
`
`exiting the WUR modeandentering the WUR modesuspend.
`
`Kim does not disclose that the STA keeps or reuses the parameters obtained in the
`
`negotiation past whenthe station exits the WUR mode (andafter it enters the WUR mode
`
`suspend from the WUR mode). Kim doesnot disclose that the WUR parameters negotiated for
`
`switching to the WUR modeare maintained until after the station exits the WUR mode and
`
`enters back into the WUR mode suspend.
`
`Thus, Kim does not disclose the subject matter of amended claim 15.
`
`Applicant submits that Huang ’131, Huang ’445 and Ahn do notcure the deficiencies of
`
`Kim. Thus, claim 15 is patentable in view of Kim, Huang ’131, Huang ’445 and Ahn.
`
`Withdrawal of the pending 35 U.S.C. §102 rejection of Claim 15 is respectfully requested.
`
`Furthermore, Claims 16—26 are dependent Claim 15 andare, therefore, patentable in view
`
`of the cited references for at least the same reasonsrecited above and byvirtue of the additional
`
`claim features set forth therein. Accordingly, withdrawal of the 35 U.S.C. §102 and 35 U.S.C.
`
`§103 rejections of Claims 16-26is respectfully requested.
`
`

`

`Application No. 16/637,714
`Reply to Office Action Dated April 15, 2021
`
`Although not identical in scope or language, the allowability Claims 27 and 28 will be
`
`apparent in view of the reasons recited above. Accordingly, withdrawal of the 35 U.S.C. §102
`
`and 35 U.S.C. §103 rejections of Claims 27 and 28 is respectfully requested.
`
`Respectfully, Applicant submits that the pending claims are allowable. Favorable
`
`consideration and a Notice of Allowanceare earnestly solicited.
`
`Respectfully submitted,
