`
`14, 17-25 and 28 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. §103 as being unpatentable over Huang and U.S.
`
`Patent Application Publication No. 2019/0230581 to Hwangetal. (hereinafter “Hwang”).
`
`Claims 15 and 16 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. §103 as being unpatentable over Hwang, Huang

`
`Claims 26 and 27 are rejected under 35 U.S.C. §103 as being unpatentable over Hwang, Huang
`
`and U.S. Patent Application Publication No. 2019/0320388 to Li et al (hereinafter “L1”).
`
`Claim 14, as amended,recites:
`
`A communication apparatus, comprising:
`a receiver which, in operation, receives a Wake-up Radio (WUR) Beacon
`transmission; and
`circuitry which, in operation:
`determines wake-up operating parameters includinga starting
`point of a duty cycle schedule of the receiver, wherein the duty cycle schedule
`specifies a period of one WUR duty cycle including one on duration and one off
`duration; and
`
`enters WUR mode by communicating with a second
`communication apparatus, wherein each timing of the startingpoint of the duty
`cycle schedule of the receiver is aligned with a target WUR Beacon transmission
`time (TWBTT) of the WUR Beacon transmission in the WUR mode or aligned with
`the TWBTTwith an addedtime offset.
`(Emphasis added)

`
`Huang discloses “target wake-up radio beacon transmission times (TWBTTs) for LP-
`
`WUR beacon transmissions” ([0006] and Figure 3 reproduced below).

`
`Huang doesnot disclose or suggest a duty cycle schedule or a starting point of duty cycle
`
`schedule. Huang doesnotdisclose or suggest that each timing ofthe starting point of the duty
`
`cycle schedule is aligned with the TWBTTor aligned with the TWBTT with an added time
`
`offset.
`
`Hwang doesnot cure the deficiencies of Huang.
`
`Hwangdiscloses that “beacon frames 1001, 1002, 1003, and 1004 may be beacon frames
`
`defined in the IEEE 802.1 1a/b/g/n/ac/ax/ad/ay standard, and include at least one of information
`
`elements (e.g., operation parameters for the WUR mode)listed in Table 5 below” (4[0110] and
`
`Table 5 reproduced below). Hwangdiscloses that “the beacon frames 1101, 1102, 1103,
`
`and 1104 may be transmitted according to the beacon interval, and the WUR frames 1111, 1112,
`
`and 1113 may be transmitted according to a WUR interval,” where “the WUR interval may be
`
`set longer than the beacon interval” ([0123]). Hwang discloses that “the WUR
`
`frames 1111, 1112, and 1113 may be WUR beacon frames and maybe transmitted in a broadcast
`
`manner” (¥[0124}]).

`
`Hwangdoesnotdisclose or suggest that each timing ofthe starting point of the duty
`
`cycle schedule is aligned with the TWBTTor aligned with the TWBTT with an added time
`
`offset. Per Hwang, the WUR intervalis set longer than the beacon interval. Dueto the fact that
`
`the WUR interval is set longer than the beacon interval, the starting point of the duty cycle
`
`schedule is not is aligned with the TWBTTor with the TWBTT with an added timeoffset (see
`
`also Figure 11 illustrating the absence of time alignment between a beacon frame and a WUR
`
`frame).
`
`Further, Figures 9-11, 13 and 14 of Hwangillustrate timing diagrams of beaconintervals
`
`and operation states of PCR and WUR. However, Figures 9-11, 13 and 14 do not disclose that
`
`the duty cycle schedule specifies a period of one WUR duty cycle including one on duration and
`
`one off duration.
`
`Thus, Huang and Hwang donotdisclose the subject matter of claim 14. Further, Min and
`
`Li do not cure the deficiencies of Huang and Hwang.
`
`Withdrawalof the pending 35 U.S.C. §102 and §103 rejections of claim 14 is respectfully
`
`requested.
`
`Furthermore, claims 15—27 are dependent on claim 14 andare, therefore, patentable in
`
`view of Huang, Hwang, Min and Liforat least the same reasonsrecited above andbyvirtue of
`
`the additional claim features set forth therein. Accordingly, withdrawal of the 35 U.S.C. §103
`
`rejections of claims 15—27 is respectfully requested.
`
`Although not identical in scope or language, the allowability of claim 28 will be apparent
`
`in view of the reasons recited above. Accordingly, withdrawal of the 35 U.S.C. §102 and §103
`
`rejections of claim 28 is respectfully requested.
`
`New claim 29 depends on claim 14. New claim 29 is patentable in view of Huang,
`
`Hwang, Min andLiforat least the same reasons recited above and byvirtue of the additional
`
`claim features set forth therein.
