`
`AMENDMENT TO THE CLAIMS
`
`The following claim listing replaces all prior listings and versions of the claims:
`
`LISTING OF CLAIMS
`
`1. (Previously Presented) An alkaline battery comprising:
`
`a tubular battery case;
`
`a positive electrode filled in the battery case, and including a stack of n pieces of hollow
`
`tubular pellets;
`
`a negative electrode disposed in hollow portionsof the pellets;
`
`a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and
`
`an alkaline electrolytic solution,
`
`wherein the battery case includes a body portion having a thickness of 0.15 mm orless,
`
`the positive electrode contains manganese dioxide and a conductive agent,
`
`nis an integer of 3 or more, and
`
`a first proportion is lower than a second proportion, wherethe first proportion is a
`
`proportion of a mass of the conductive agent in a total mass of the manganese dioxide and the
`
`conductive agent in at least one whole pellet positioned in a middle portion in a height direction
`
`of the stack, and the second proportion is a proportion of a mass of the conductive agentin a total
`
`mass of the manganese dioxide and the conductive agent in at least one whole pellet positioned
`
`in one of end portionsin the height direction of the stack.
`
`2. (Original) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein the first proportion is
`
`lowerthan the second proportion in each ofthe pellets positioned in both end portions in the
`
`height direction of the stack.
`
`3. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein a difference
`
`between the first proportion and the second proportion is 2.1% by mass or more.
`
`4. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein thefirst
`
`proportion is 5.9% by mass orless.
`
`

`Application No.: 16/979,581
`
`5-6. (Cancelled)
`
`7. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein the body
`
`portion has a thickness of 0.08 mm or more.
`
`8. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein a density of
`the manganese dioxidein each ofthe pellets is 2.76 g/cm? or more and 3.14 g/cm’orless.
`
`9. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein a difference
`
`between the density of the manganese dioxide of at least one whole pellet positioned in the
`
`middle portion in the height direction of the stack and the density of the manganesedioxideofat
`
`least one whole pellet positioned in the end portionsin the height direction of the stack is 0.2
`g/cm?orless.
`
`10. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein n is an
`
`integer of 3 or more and 8 orless.
`
`11-14. (Cancelled)
`
`15. (Previously Presented) The alkaline battery according to claim 1, wherein:
`
`when n is an odd number, the at least one whole pellet positioned in a middle portion in a
`
`height direction of the stack is a pellet through which a center plane in the height direction of the
`
`stack passes, and
`
`when n is an even number, the at least one whole pellet positioned in a middle portion in
`
`a height direction of the stack is at least one of two pellets sandwichingthe center plane.
